THREAD VEINS

THREAD VEINS

Ageing skin isn’t just about the lines and wrinkles we incur as we age, but also the noticeable discolouration of our skin through various factors.

Vascular outbreaks and areas of redness are a common cosmetic concern.

Broken vessels, spider veins or thread veins- are tiny blood vessels which run close to the skin’s surface.

They look like thin red or occasionally purple or blue threads that often occur around the nose, across the cheeks and chin.

Commonly known as thread or spider veins.

Broken capillaries and vessels are small superficial red or purple in colour and commonly appear on thecae and legs.

The causes of these can include genetics, age, lifestyle, hormones, pregnancy and weight gain. Although they are quite common, they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.

Frequently Asked Question

Which types of vascular lesions and veins can be treated ?

Most red skin lesions, including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, and port wine stains, can be treated very successfully.

Depending on the lesions, leg vessels up to 2mm in diameter can also respond well to treatment. We cannot treat varicose veins.

How does the treatment feel?

Treatment is mildly uncomfortable And often described as “pinchy” in certain areas.

We use the Cryo cooler to aid with client comfort.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolleté can be red and slightly swollen for a few hours or days. Though very rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?

Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. For specific vascular treatments such as Rosacea an ongoing treatment plan may be need to be created with the specific client in mind to manage and make sure expectations are met. We would suggest for safety and effective results that repeat treatments should be spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.
